Both sermons were delivered at a critical time in the lives of their respective speakers and their communities. The Farewell Sermon was delivered by Prophet Muhammad shortly before his death, as he gathered his followers for the last time to deliver his final instructions and guidance.

Similarities between the Sermons

• Emphasis on righteousness: Both sermons emphasize the importance of living a life of righteousness and goodness. Jesus taught his followers to "love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, and pray for those who mistreat you" (Matthew 5:44). Prophet Muhammad similarly taught his followers to "be kind to your parents, be good to your neighbors, and be just in your dealings with others" (Hadith).
• Compassion and forgiveness: Both sermons also emphasize the importance of compassion and forgiveness. Jesus taught his followers to "judge not, that you may not be judged" (Matthew 7:1) and to "forgive seventy times seven" (Matthew 18:22). Prophet Muhammad similarly taught his followers to "forgive others, and God will forgive you" (Hadith).

Differences between the Sermons

In contrast, the Farewell Sermon is more focused on community and social responsibility.

Verily, the best of provision is righteousness, and verily, the worst of actions is injustice" (Hadith).
