Early Life and Career
Christopher Reeves was born in New York City to Barbara and Frank Reeves. His father was a stockbroker and his mother was a singer. Reeves attended the Juilliard School in New York City, where he studied acting. He made his Broadway debut in 1975 in the play "My Fair Lady." Reeves's first film role was in the 1978 film "Gray Lady Down." He went on to star in a number of films, including "Superman" (1978),"Superman II" (1980),"Superman III" (1983),and "Superman IV: The Quest for Peace" (1987).
Paralyzing Accident
In 1995, Reeves was paralyzed in a horse-riding accident. He was thrown from his horse and landed on his head. The accident left him paralyzed from the neck down. Reeves spent the rest of his life in a wheelchair. He never gave up hope, however. He continued to act, direct, and advocate for people with disabilities.
Activism and Legacy
Reeves was a dedicated advocate for people with disabilities. He founded the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation, which is dedicated to finding a cure for paralysis. He also served as the chairman of the American Paralysis Association. Reeves was an inspiration to millions of people around the world. He showed that anything is possible, even with a disability.
Personal Life
Reeves was married to Dana Morosini from 1992 until his death in 2004. They had three children together. Reeves was a private person who rarely spoke about his personal life. He was a devoted husband and father.
